OCCC_ATIPThe "Automotive Technology Internship Program" (ATIP) offers the student one of two degrees including a 21 credit hour Certificate of Mastery or an Associate of Applied Science Degree. This program requires the student to work in an independent shop, a franchise, fleet shop, or non-GM Dealership. This gives the student a wide range of opportunities in the required industry on-the-job training part of the program. Students receive classroom and lab experiences with an emphasis on hands-on training. Courses are designed to give students maximum experience in the lab targeting success in the workplace and ASE certification preparation. This program is available for students to start at any time of the school year and is offered as both day and night classes.

Students in OCCC's ATIP program can earn certification by working in Ford's Automotive Career Exploration (ACE) program. This dealer-sponsored program is intended to raise awareness and increase interest in career opportunities within the automotive industry, ultimately as a service technician at a Ford or Lincoln dealership.

The Honda PACT (Professional Automotive Career Training) program offers state-of-the-art automotive technician training that will enable students to become Honda & Acura certified technicians. OCCC_MercedesOklahoma City Community College (OCCC) is partnering with Mercedes-Benz USA to enhance automotive service technician training through the Automotive Technician Internship Program (ATIP).

Students are able to earn Mercedes-Benz factory-specific certifications that will better prepare them to work in Mercedes-Benz service centers in Oklahoma.

NISSAN Technician Training Academy (NTTA) prepares you for a career as a factory-trained technician at NISSAN or INFINITI dealerships nationwide. You’ll gain hands-on automotive diagnosis and repair experience, qualifying you to step into one of the estimated additional 6,000 technician jobs NISSAN and INFINITI dealerships expect to offer over the next 5 years.

Factory-Specific Training

You’ll have access to NISSAN Virtual Academy online training courses, NISSAN and INFINITI Service Operations manuals (ASIST) and vehicle diagnostic data (CONSULT III Plus), helping you learn how to diagnose and repair NISSAN and/or INFINITI vehicles.

Apprenticeship Program

In addition to training on NISSAN and/or INFINITI vehicles in classrooms, NTTA students are highly encouraged to participate in the apprenticeship program (subject to dealership availability), which offers hands-on dealership experience plus the opportunity to earn money while they learn.

Work at NISSAN or INFINITI Dealerships

Through a partnership with one of 17 community colleges and vocational schools from coast to coast, you’ll work on NISSAN and/or INFINITI vehicles, giving you hands-on experience and preparing you for a career in a NISSAN or INFINITI dealership.

The Credentials You’ll Earn

By participating in NTTA, you can earn either a two year Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree or certificate in Automotive Technology. Students will be eligible to receive certification in the following:

Automatic Transmissions
Basic Electrical Concepts
Chassis
Engine Mechanical
Heating, Ventilations & Air Conditioning
Manual Transmissions
NTTA graduates who complete and pass all 6 certifications have the potential to become a Specialist Technician at a NISSAN or INFINITI dealership.

Career Outlook

Due to vehicle sales growth, NISSAN and INFINITI dealerships estimate a need for up to 6,000 additional technicians over the next 5 years. Candidates who have completed post-secondary training programs such as NTTA and/or achieved Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification should enjoy the best job prospects.

Subaru-U is a partnership between select NATEF/AYES schools and Subaru of America. It was developed as a response to the ever-increasing need for new technicians to enter the retailer service centers. By mentoring a student, the retailer has the opportunity to teach them the soft skills required to succeed in the workforce. By allowing participating schools to provide the basic technical skills, Subaru to provide the manufacturer specific training, and the retailer to provide the real world experience, Subaru Service Centers the ability to grow their own technicians.

Subaru provides access to the Subaru Learning Management System (LMS) for instructors and students of accredited NATEF programs. This allows all of the students to participate in Subaru’s Web-Based Training (WBT) and take our Level 2 test out for technicians at the completion of their program. Students that do get sponsored at a Subaru retailer are also eligible for training at any one of our 12 Area Training Centers nationwide. Other benefits of the program will be announced as they become available.

Toyota is excited to announce the all new Technician Education College Support (TECS) program. TECS is designed to supplement your existing curriculum and help students interested in a career with Toyota to gain a “head start” in their training.

TECS is available to post-secondary automotive programs as well as secondary automotive programs. However, it is limited to participants 16 years and older.

Students who complete the eLearning modules will qualify to become a Toyota Maintenance Level Certified Technician.
