Upon successful completion of the Occupational Therapy Program at Oklahoma City Community College, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate competent entry-level occupational therapy assistant knowledge and skills through effective clinical reasoning, evidence-informed practice, and implementation of purposeful occupational interventions across diverse practice settings.
- Communicate effectively and collaborate professionally with clients, caregivers, occupational therapy practitioners, and interprofessional team members to support quality service delivery and client-centered care.
- Demonstrate ethical behavior, professionalism, accountability, and adherence to the AOTA Code of Ethics while participating effectively in supervisory relationships and professional responsibilities.
- Provide respectful, culturally responsive, and individualized care that promotes participation, wellness, prevention, and occupational engagement for diverse populations.
- Demonstrate proficiency in occupational therapy procedures, assessments, therapeutic activities, adaptive techniques, splint fabrication, and the safe use of technology and equipment necessary for contemporary practice.
- Value lifelong learning, maintain credentialing requirements, seek continuing education opportunities, and actively promote and advocate for the occupational therapy profession.
- Demonstrate safe, organized, and efficient practice habits that support quality occupational therapy services and effective management of therapeutic environments, equipment, and resources.
