Nagle

We are excited to announce a Book Club experience featuring Rebecca Nagle’s book, By the Fire We Carry: The Generations-Long Fight for Justice on Native Land.

Who: Open to all students, faculty, and staff
Where: Online via Moodle
When: Oct. 6 – Nov. 14

Special Opportunity: All participants who complete the book club activities are invited to have lunch with the author on Nov. 10 from 11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Plus, a tuition waiver will be raffled to one student who completes the program this semester.

Early Sign-Up Bonus:

  • Students who sign up by Sept. 14 will receive a free copy of the book!

Events:

Author Event - Nov. 10:

  • Rebecca Nagle will present “Fighting Indigenous Erasure in the Media” from 12:30 p.m.–1:30 p.m. in the Bruce Owen Theater.

Additional Events – Nov. 10:

Join us in the GDA and Bruce Owen Theater for other celebrations of Still Here: Voices of Indigenous Oklahomans throughout the day.

Bruce Owen:

  • 10 am – Season 1: Episode 2: NDN Clinic of Reservations Dogs, followed by 30-45 minute Q&A with Dr. Cassandra Querdibitty – Ass’t Prof with OUHSC 

  • 11:15 – Season 1: Episode 5: Deer Lady episode of Reservation Dogs, followed by 30-45 minute Q&A with Professor Pam Stout,  

  • 2:15 pm – Season 1: Episode 1 of Reservation Dogs, followed by 30-45 minute Q&A with Steve Mathis (gaffer on Reservation Dogs)

General Dining Area: 

  • Approximately 10 am - 12 pm - come-and-go tabling and activities with artists, speakers, etc. 

Book club participants only - 11 – 12 – lunch with Rebecca Nagle (location will be posted on book club site so doesn't need to be posted here)
