frequently asked questions
College is full of questions. Start here, and if there’s more you want to know, reach out. We’re happy to help.
Are classes in person or online?
There’s no substitute for the in-person college experience, whether in the classroom or around campus. Most classes are offered in person, but after the COVID-19 pandemic forced us entirely online, we made sizable investments in our delivery methods and online learning programs. We offer online courses in many areas, and we’ll continue to expand those offerings based on demand. Let us know what feels right for your schedule and we’ll work with you to build a plan that suits you.
Are classes in 8-week terms or 16-week semesters?Well, some of both, actually. In 2019, we dove into a new, fast-paced, highly-focused class format by offering most classes in an 8-week term format, with the idea being that students would take fewer classes at once, but finish them faster. The end result was the same, but the pace was different. This proved largely successful, but some materials just aren’t meant to be absorbed that quickly, and some labs require more time for in-person instruction. Now, we let the Deans and faculty work together to determine what’s right for their programs, and what our students feel is best for them. The result is a healthy balance of both formats, based on what our faculty believes is the best way to successfully learn and retain the material.
Can I fulfill academic requirements with previous coursework?Typically yes. All coursework previously completed at a regionally-accredited institution of higher education will be accepted as transfer credit. Though it’s important to point out: Not all credit will necessarily apply toward program requirements. Work with one of our academic advisors to review your specific coursework and determine what will apply to your desired program.
Can I change my field of study once I'm enrolled?Of course. College is all about finding your way, learning who you are and finding what you love to do. One way to accomplish those things is by finding who you aren’t and what you don’t love to do. If you want to change your major, concentration or field of study anytime, work with a Student Success Advisor to determine a path that feels more like you. Not sure what speaks to you? We have career assessment quizzes and other exercises to help point you in a direction.
