OCCC Communication Help Awareness Team (CHAT)
Don't wait to communicate.
If something seems off, we are here to listen and respond. CHAT is about safety and proactively connecting the dots to refer people to the right resources. We all struggle. We all need a little support sometimes. We can protect our community when we CHAT.

What is CHAT?
Campus Help Awareness Team
We are a campus wide team of 8-10 appointed professionals responsible for collecting and reviewing concerning information about at-risk community members (including students, faculty, and staff) and coordinating appropriate multi-point resource plans to assist them and mitigate any potential risks to self or others. To do this, we:- Meet biweekly to discuss, develop, and improve intervention strategies for community members who have displayed concerning behaviors.
- Use multiple behavioral assessment methods and departmental resources to determine level of risk and/or threat to the community.
- Actively promote and educate the campus community about behaviors of concern to report and accompanying reporting procedures.
